Iran condemns ‘Unlawful’ US, UK airstrikes on Yemen
Iran has strongly condemned the recent airstrikes conducted by American and British forces in Yemen, characterizing them as unlawful acts that violate international law and the United Nations Charter. The condemnation came from Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei, who emphasized that the airstrikes reflect repeated military aggression against Yemen.
Baghaei stated, “The attacking parties bear international accountability for such unlawful acts that run counter to the UN Charter,” and criticized the actions as a blatant infringement of international law. He also highlighted the destabilizing role of Israel in the region, linking its policies to insecurity in West Asia. Baghaei called for an end to Israeli aggression against Lebanon and Gaza as essential for restoring peace in the region.
The airstrikes reportedly involved 18 attacks across various regions in Yemen, including the capital Sana’a and other provinces. Despite the strikes, the Yemeni government and its armed forces pledged to continue their operations against Israeli interests, asserting that such military actions would not deter their commitment to support Palestine and Lebanon.

The backdrop to these events includes Yemen’s ongoing solidarity with Palestine, especially following Israel’s military actions in Gaza that began in October 2023. The Yemeni Armed Forces have stated they will persist in their operations until the Israeli offensives cease.
The Iranian government has expressed its willingness to support Yemen and its allies in defending themselves against ongoing attacks from Israel and Western forces.
