Troops capture terrorists, logistics supplier

Troops from the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) in Taraba State have apprehended three suspected bandits and a logistics supplier connected to terrorist activities both within and outside the state.

According to Captain Olubodunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, the arrests were made based on credible intelligence reports.

He reported that a special operation was launched on October 7, 2024, in Andami, Karim Lamido Local Government Area, resulting in the capture of the suspected bandits in Jeb-Jeb, a border community between Taraba and Plateau states.

Captain Oni identified the suspects as Adamu Abubakar, Mohammed Bello, and Musa Adamu.

He further stated that the suspects were responsible for a series of criminal activities, including armed robbery, kidnappings, and violent assaults on communities in the area.

“These arrests are part of a broader effort by the 6 Brigade to curb the rising wave of inter-state criminality within its Area of Operations.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects have been active in the state for several years, and investigations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the criminal syndicate,” he said.

The Army spokesperson also revealed that a key logistics supplier for a notorious terrorist group in Taraba State was arrested in a separate operation in Bunka village of Lau LGA.

He alleged that the suspect, Musa Inusa, supplied essential materials and other resources to terrorists operating in the area.

“His arrest is expected to disrupt the supply chain and further weaken the operational capabilities of the group,” Captain Oni said.
