Gov Lawal inaugurates 6 committees for dev’t policies implementation
Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal has inaugurated six committees to spearhead the implementation of key development policies and programs aimed at enhancing governance and service delivery across the state.
During a ceremony held at the old council chamber of the Government House in Gusau on Thursday, Governor Lawal emphasized his administration’s commitment to good governance.
He explained that the committees were established to address various critical sectors in Zamfara’s development strategy.
According to a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, the newly inaugurated committees include the Human Capital Development Council, the Committee to Combat Drug Abuse, the Land Use and Allocation Committee, and the Development Plan Committee.
Two additional committees were also set up to focus on national and international partnerships: the Committee for Nigeria’s Human Capital Opportunities for Prosperity and Equity in Governance, and the Steering Committee for the World Bank’s Solutions for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and Host Communities.

Governor Lawal noted that the committee members were carefully selected from the State Executive Council, civil service, technocrats, and academia, ensuring a blend of experience and expertise.
The Human Capital Development Council, chaired by Deputy Governor Mani Mallam Mummini Masamar Mudi, will focus on frameworks that enhance government projects on human development. This includes empowering youth and women to reach their full potential.
The Committee to Combat Drug Abuse, chaired by the First Lady, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal, will assess drug abuse in the state and develop prevention strategies.
The Development Plan Committee is tasked with finalizing Zamfara’s Ten-Year Development Plan (2024–2033), aligning it with national standards and goals.
Alhaji Ali Bako, a veteran land surveyor, will head the Land Use and Allocation Committee, which will manage land administration and recommend allocations to the governor.
Two other committees will focus on external collaborations. The World Bank Solutions Steering Committee will address IDP needs, while the Human Capital Opportunities Steering Committee will work to improve education and healthcare funding in Zamfara.
These committees are expected to drive significant progress in Zamfara’s development policies and improve governance across the state.
