PDP govs delay NEC meeting to November, call for unity among members
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum has rescheduled its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting from October 24, 2024, to November 28, 2024.
This decision was made during a consultative meeting of the party’s various organs held on Tuesday at the Bauchi State Governors’ Lodge, Tatari Ali House, Asokoro.
In a communiqué signed by the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum and Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Mohammed, the postponement aims to ensure the party enters the upcoming Ondo gubernatorial elections on November 16, 2024, united and strong enough to “unseat the struggling All Progressive Congress (APC) government in the state.”
The meeting also aimed to address disunity among members.
“Reiterating the need for unity in the face of efforts by detractors to divide the party, the meeting called on all members to shun divisive utterances that could undermine ongoing efforts to strengthen the party so it can effectively fulfill its role as the country’s main opposition, in preparation for taking over in 2027,” the communiqué read in part.
The meeting was attended by the PDP Governors Forum, its Board of Trustees, the National Working Committee (NWC), the leadership of the National Assembly’s PDP Caucus, and the Forum of Former Governors of the party.
