Ganduje, Bala Mohammed all smiles as Tinubu, Atiku shake hands at National Mosque

President Bola Tinubu and former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar were seen sharing a friendly moment at the National Mosque in Abuja on Friday.

This unexpected encounter took place during the wedding ceremony of Senator Danjuma Goje’s daughter, where both leaders put aside their political differences.

Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga shared the news via Twitter, along with photographs capturing the moment. He noted that the meeting occurred during the Jumat service and the wedding festivities, highlighting the amicable interaction between the two prominent political figures.

Atiku, who was a key opponent in last year’s election, has frequently criticized Tinubu’s administration. Just a day prior to their meeting, he took to Twitter to express concerns over the challenges faced by Nigerians, attributing some of these difficulties to what he termed “the trial-and-error policies of this bumbling administration.”

However, at the mosque, both leaders engaged in cordial pleasantries, showcasing a moment of unity amid their political rivalry.

This unexpected interaction has drawn attention, especially in light of the heated political climate in Nigeria, where relations between various political factions often fluctuate.

The photographs of their handshake serve as a reminder that even amidst rivalry, moments of civility can occur.
