7 killed, 2 in hospital, others still trapped in Abuja building collapse
A building collapse in Abuja’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has claimed the lives of seven individuals. The acting Director-General of the FCT Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Ibrahim Sabo, confirmed the fatalities while inspecting the site along Airport Road on Sunday.
According to Sabo, the incident occurred on Saturday as people attempted to scavenge materials from a building marked for demolition by the Federal Capital Development Control due to irregularities in land documentation. Sabo noted that the scavengers’ actions were likely responsible for the collapse.
