19 traditional rulers resign from office
Nineteen traditional rulers, including district and ward heads from Sabon Birni Local Government Area in Sokoto State, have resigned to pledge their allegiance to Senator Ibrahim Lamido.
This significant mass resignation was announced on Tuesday and includes prominent leaders from areas such as Sabon Birnin Gabas, Tsilba, and Sabon Garin Danbaki.
The resignations come on the heels of Alhaji Abdullahi Muhammad Bawa’s departure as the District Head of Sabon Birni, who stepped down on October 16, 2024.

In his resignation letter, Bawa cited his desire to align with Senator Lamido’s political agenda as his primary motivation.
Prominent ward heads from areas such as Magajin Dawakin, Dan Faru, and Zumbuli have also resigned, expressing their commitment to Senator Lamido’s vision for the region.
Alhaji Lauwali Shuaibu, ward head of Taka-Tsaba, stated, “We have submitted our resignation letters, but no one invited us to discuss our grievances.”
He highlighted Senator Lamido’s proactive efforts to support their communities, particularly during bandit attacks, as a significant factor in their decision to shift allegiance.
Another resigning leader, Alhaji Jamilu Gwanda Gobir, the Ubandoman Sarkin Gobir, emphasized that their collective resignations aim to revitalize the Gobir district.
He noted that their positions are now open as they seek to support politicians dedicated to the welfare of the people.
