Acting Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has expressed condolences to the family of the late Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, the 23rd Chief of Army Staff, who passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2024, following a brief illness.
On Wednesday, Acting Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, visited Mrs. Mariya Lagbaja and other family members at the Flag Staff House, Niger Barracks, Abuja, to offer his condolences following the death of Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, the 23rd Chief of Army Staff.
Accompanied by Principal Staff Officers from Army Headquarters, Corps Commanders, and General Officers Commanding (GOCs) of the Nigerian Army, Oluyede paid tribute to the late COAS, praising his gallantry, dedication, and lasting legacy in both the Nigerian Army and the wider Armed Forces.
In a message of condolence signed in the register opened in honor of the late COAS, Oluyede wrote: “It is with profound sorrow, yet a sense of duty, that I, on behalf of the officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army, extend my deepest condolences to Mrs. Mariya Lagbaja, the children, and the entire Lagbaja family over the loss of our courageous, dedicated, and highly esteemed leader, Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja (Nigerian Army Medal), Chief of Army Staff.
“Lieutenant General Lagbaja’s unwavering commitment to duty and the indelible legacy he leaves behind are a testament to his exceptional service to our nation. While we mourn his passing, we take comfort in knowing that his contributions will never be forgotten. May his soul rest in peace. He will be greatly missed.”
