Police bust kidnap syndicate in Kaduna, seize AK-47 rifle
The Kaduna State Police Command has successfully arrested three suspected members of a notorious kidnapping syndicate, known for terrorising residents and travelers, particularly along the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway.
This breakthrough came after an intelligence-led operation conducted by the command’s operatives, which led to the capture of the suspects on Tuesday.
In a statement issued by the police spokesperson, ASP Mansir Hassan, it was confirmed that the arrested individuals were found in possession of an AK-47 rifle with an empty magazine.
The police revealed that the suspects are part of a larger criminal gang involved in a string of violent kidnapping incidents that have plagued the region, causing immense distress among commuters and local residents.
During questioning, the suspects admitted to their roles in the syndicate, which has been linked to multiple violent incidents across the area. They also provided key information that could help law enforcement track down other members of the group who are still at large, and further aid in the recovery of additional firearms.

“The suspects are currently cooperating with the police, and their confessions are instrumental in strengthening the ongoing investigation into the criminal group,” ASP Hassan stated.
The arrest of the kidnappers is seen as a significant victory for the police in their ongoing efforts to combat criminal activities and restore safety to the region. Local authorities have pledged to continue their crackdown on all forms of violence and criminality affecting the residents of Kaduna and the surrounding areas.
The police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to help disrupt criminal operations and ensure the safety of all.
