Governor Buni approves N70,000 minimum wage for Yobe civil servants
Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has approved the implementation of a N70,000 minimum wage for state civil servants, effective December 2024.
This landmark decision was announced in a memo signed by the governor, following recommendations from the state government’s Committee on Minimum Wage.
The committee advised reconciling local government finances to ensure a smooth transition for local government councils from the existing salary structure to the newly approved minimum wage. The reconciliation process is nearing completion and will soon pave the way for local government employees to benefit from the improved wage structure.
The state government has called on civil servants to reciprocate this gesture by committing to enhanced service delivery for the benefit of Yobe residents.
The announcement was made by Mamman Mohammed, Director-General of Press and Media Affairs to the Governor.
