Police arrest native doctor, 1 other over alleged robbery, kidnapping, recover gun
The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended two individuals, including a native doctor, for their alleged involvement in kidnapping and armed robbery activities in the state.
The suspects, identified as Maduabuchukwu Ikechukwu Okafor, 30, and Nweze Chijindu, 38, were arrested following the rescue and testimony of a kidnapping victim. The operation was conducted by joint security forces, including the police and the Anambra Vigilantes, near Abagana Girls Secondary School.
According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the joint team discovered and raided the native doctor’s shrine in Uru, Abagana. During the operation, a pump-action rifle, the victim’s vehicle, ropes, and other incriminating materials were recovered.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was lured by a phone call from an accomplice, Sunday Nwakanze, who remains at large. The victim was abducted at gunpoint, dispossessed of valuables, and taken to the shrine, where he was restrained and gagged,” SP Ikenga stated.
Two other suspects, including Nwakanze and one Supuluchukwu Nweze, are currently at large. Meanwhile, the arrested suspects have confessed to the crime and are cooperating with police efforts to apprehend their accomplices.
The Anambra Police Command assured residents of its commitment to maintaining safety and security across the state.
