Another tanker explodes in Niger State (Video)

Another fuel-laden tanker exploded in Kusogbogi, located at the boundary between Agaie and Lapai Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Niger State.

The incident occurred around 6 p.m. on Tuesday, but fortunately, no lives were lost.

A local resident from Lapai, Mallam Mahmud Abubakar, reported that the tanker fell and caught fire while attempting to overtake another truck. Abubakar also mentioned that a similar explosion had occurred at the same location the previous week.

He attributed Tuesday’s explosion to overspeeding and loss of control, while last week’s explosion happened when a tanker collided with a stationary truck, resulting in both vehicles burning.

This latest incident follows a devastating fuel tanker explosion in Dikko, Gurara LGA, over a week ago, which killed at least 98 people and left many others injured. The explosion occurred when residents, who had gathered to collect spilled fuel, were caught in a sudden ignition, causing a massive blast.

In response to the tragedy, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ordered the transfer of 20 victims to Gwagwalada Specialist Hospital for advanced medical care.
