Police detain mad man for stabbing passerby to death

The Niger State Police Command has arrested a mentally deranged man for murder.

According to reports, the mad man, simply identified as Mubarak stabbed 25-year-old man, Shamseen Danshehu, to death.

This happened on Sunday, March 23 in the Kwangila area of Minna, Niger State.

An eyewitness who confirmed the incident said the duo engaged in a fight, which quickly turned violent, and the suspect stabbed the victim in the chest.

He was rushed to the nearby Minna General hospital where he was confirmed dead on arrival.

Confirming the arrest on Monday, the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Wasiu Abiodun said;

“It was reported that one Mubarak, who is suspected of insanity and also scavenging around Kwangila, had a fight with a passerby, Shamsu Danshehu, 25, of the same area. During the fight, the scavenger stabbed Shamsu in the chest with scissors.

“The victim was rushed to the general hospital but he gave up the ghost in the hospital and was confirmed dead. The suspect was arrested for further investigation,” Abiodun added.
