32-year-old man dies inside Abuja mosque after Ramadan prayers

A 32-year-old man has been confirmed dead, after falling asleep in a mosque in Abuja.

According to reports, the deceased had come to the mosque to pray during this ongoing Ramadan fasting when he passed away.

This happened in the Paso community, Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT.

An eyewitness and a resident in the community confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Rayyanu, a 32-year-old man.

He added that he had come early in the morning to observe the Subhi prayer around 5:56am, and decided to have a nap after the prayer, but didn’t wake up.

“It was around 7:28 am when some people who were in charge of cleaning the mosque saw the man lying in the mosque. They tried to wake him for them to clean the mosque but he was not responding,’’ he said.

An alarm was raised to notify people of the incident, and Rayyanu was subsequently rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead on arrival.

Musa said the deceased was later identified and handed over to his relatives for burial.
