100-level student hangs self over girlfriend’s infidelity

A 100-level student of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Ghana, whose name was not given, has tragically ended his life after reportedly catching his girlfriend in bed with another man.

The incident was said to have happened on Wednesday, April 16.

According to multiple reports, the young man unexpectedly visited his girlfriend’s hostel, only to find her in a compromising situation with another male student.

Shocked and devastated by the discovery, he reportedly fainted on the spot and had to be carried back to his hostel.

Tragically, the emotional toll proved too much for him to bear.

He allegedly took his own life by hanging shortly after the incident.

Witnesses said, “The young man allegedly collapsed after unexpectedly discovering his girlfriend in an intimate situation with another individual at Ghana Universities Staff Superannuation Scheme (GUSSS) Hall Two.

University officials and police officers removed his body from the hostel premises, as investigations into the incident continue.

Reactions online have been a mix of grief, shock, and harsh criticism.

While many mourn the loss, others have described his action as an avoidable tragedy.

They urged young people to seek emotional support during difficult moments rather than resorting to self-harm.

The university had yet to release an official statement on the incident as of press time.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has commenced a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the student’s death.
