Police arrest suspect in Sokoto over alleged killing of wife in Kebbi
The Nigeria Police Force has arrested a man in Sokoto State in connection with the alleged killing of his wife in Kebbi State, in what authorities described as a tragic case of domestic violence.
Confirming the arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) said the suspect was tracked and apprehended in Sokoto after fleeing Kebbi State following the incident.
“The suspect was arrested based on credible intelligence after he absconded from Kebbi State. He is currently in custody and will be transferred to the Kebbi State Police Command for further investigation and prosecution,” the police spokesperson said.

According to the police, the victim reportedly died after sustaining fatal injuries during a domestic dispute at their residence in Kebbi State.
“The command condemns this act in its entirety. Domestic violence has no place in our society, and anyone found culpable will face the full wrath of the law,” the PPRO added.
The police assured the public that a thorough investigation would be conducted to establish the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

“We urge members of the public to report cases of domestic violence early, as timely intervention can save lives,” the spokesperson said.
The incident has renewed calls from rights advocates for stronger enforcement of laws against domestic violence and greater protection for victims.
