Brigadier General Muhammadu Lawal Abubakar: A model of discipline and loyalty in service
Brigadier General Muhammadu Lawal Abubakar is a prominent Nigerian Army officer best known as the longest-serving Aide-De-Camp (ADC) to a civilian president in Nigeria’s history.
He was born on March 28, 1973, in Wusasa, Zaria. His father is from Kano State, and his mother is from Edo State.
He attended the Nigerian Military School (NMS), Zaria, from 1985 to 1990, where he served as the Boy Regimental Sergeant Major (Head Boy).
He studied at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, as a science undergraduate before joining the military.

Abubakar has held various command, staff, and instructional roles throughout his career:
Aide-De-Camp (ADC) to President Muhammadu Buhari (2015–2021), he served in this role for nearly six years, making him the second longest-serving ADC in Nigerian military history after Colonel Walbe.
Camp Commandant, Giwa Barracks (2013–2014): Led the detention facility during Operation Zaman Lafiya, managing over 1,500 suspected Boko Haram detainees and facilitating the first visit by the International Committee of the Red Cross.
Battalion Training Coordinator: Coordinated counter-terrorism training for the 143 Battalion with the U.S. Army Rangers and British Military Advisory teams.
Staff Roles: Served as Staff Officer Grade One (Operations and Training) at the Nigerian Army Training Centre in Kontagora.
In early 2021, he was nominated for a five-month Strategic and Defence Course in Santiago, Chile. Upon completion, he was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General in late 2021.

He is widely described as a highly disciplined, loyal, and professional officer. President Buhari personally commended him in his performance evaluations as “highly committed and loyal.”
