Police arrest six suspected fake pastors in Ondo over alleged staged miracles
The Nigeria Police Force has arrested six men in Ondo State over alleged involvement in staging fake miracles to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
The suspects, described by police as self-acclaimed clerics, were apprehended following complaints that they allegedly orchestrated testimonies and healing sessions to convince worshippers to part with large sums of money.
According to the police, preliminary investigations suggest the group operated through coordinated schemes, including arranging fake beneficiaries who publicly claimed to have received miraculous healings or financial breakthroughs during services.

The arrests were carried out in parts of Ondo State after intelligence reports and petitions from concerned residents. Authorities said items linked to the alleged activities were recovered during the operation.
The police spokesperson in the state confirmed that investigations are ongoing and assured that anyone found culpable would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The development has sparked reactions among residents, with calls for stricter monitoring of religious organisatcurb fraudulent practices.
