Nigerian army donates classrooms to community in Bauchi

Nigerian army has handed over four blocks of classrooms to Kili Community in Darazo local government area of Bauchi State as part of it’s corporate social responsibility on Wednesday.

Commissioning the classrooms, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, explained that provision of requisite knowledge, basic skills and techniques make the bedrock of development in any society.

He said: “One of the most important benefits of education is that, it improves personal life and make man productive –hence help the society to run smoothly.

However, Before now, Kili Primary School was in a state of disrepair and problem of unavailability of portable water, toilet facilities, playground and lack of perimeter fence to mention but a few,” Buratai said.

Represented the Commander of Amour Corps, Bauchi Major General James Komolafe, Buratai decried  that lack of  adequate facilities negatively affect learning in the school.

He said before the army’s intervention, pupils were learning under trees which he said was creating difficulty in assimilation.

Buratai said the project is constructed  under the Nigerian army’s corporate social responsibility aimed at supporting the efforts of the state and federal governments the standard of education.

Meanwhile, the State Governor, Bala Mohammed in his remarks appreciated the Nigerian army’s intervention at a time when the Military is “grappling with security issues in the Northeast, confronting head-on the Boko Haram and defeating them.

Even in the theatre of warfare, he has time to reflect on the needs of children and the community.”

The Governor who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Ladan Salihu, appreciated Buratai for selecting the community to assist.
