The Academic Staff Union of Universities has announced a “conditional” suspension to the strike action it embarked on, 13th August, 2017.
The announcement followed a meeting between the Federal Government delegation led by the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Dr. Chris Ngige and the leadership of ASUU led by its National President, Professor Ogunyemi.
Briefing Newsmen after the meeting, Ogunyemi explained that the union gave the Federal Government till October to implement previous agreements.
They requested that universities be excluded from the Treasury Single Account noting it has limited the extent to which schools can conduct researches and also approve grants to members of the association.
