The Niger State police have arrested a senior civil servant for illegally placing his brother’s name on the federal government’s payroll for 11 years.
Mohammed Ndanusa, who worked for the Ministry of Health, has been collecting his brother’s salary for about 11 years until the bubble burst on Tuesday.
He was arrested in Minna after it was discovered that he had been smuggling his brother’s name into the government’s payroll since 2009.
Ndanusa even managed to promote the brother who is a biker in Minna several times from 10th to 14th-grade, when he is not even qualified to be at that level.
His 11-year-old fraud was discovered when he asked his brother, Tanimu Ndanusa, to appear for the physical verification screening.
The Niger State Government is currently starting a physical inspection of all officials.
According to P.M. News, When Tanimu Ndanusa appeared before the panel, he did not come with a certificate. And he couldn’t even speak, like a senior official at level 14.
The members of the verification committee were stunned and called the police to arrest him.
The two brothers, Mohammed Ndanusa and Tanimu Ndanusa were arrested by the police and Mohammed Ndanusa confessed to the crime.
Ndanusa confirmed that he had fraudulently employed his brother in the 10th grade in 2009, and subsequently promoted him to the 14th grade three times to date.
The Niger State Commissioner of Police, Usman Adamu, said the suspect would be charged to court once the investigation is completed.
