Story from Kenneth AFOR, Lagos
The presidency has tasked aides of President Muhammadu Buhari to work towards the reduction of poverty and increase in food security in the country, in order to deliver the campaign promises made to Nigerians by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The call was made by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha while speaking during the “Ministerial Performance Review Retreat” held in Abuja, on Monday.
The retreat was designed to equip ministers on the current status of policies, programmes and projects that will create a road map in achieving the administration’s “Next Level Agenda”.
The SGF therefore, charged political appointees in the president’s cabinet to perform optimally on the Federal Government’s nine focal points.
“This retreat is expected to provide an opportunity for us as a government to review the First-Year report of the “Ministerial Mandates”, with respect to the commitment to deliver on the nine priority areas of this Administration,” he said.
He further added the retreat is an avenue to allow for transparency on the level of implementation of policies, programmes and projects in aiding the attainment on the delivery of the party’s campaign promises.
According to the SGF, the nine focal points of Buhari-led government are: building a thriving and sustainable economy, enhance social inclusion and reduce poverty, enlarge agricultural output for food security and export, attain energy sufficiency in power and petroleum products and expand transport and other infrastructural development, expanding business growth, entrepreneurship and industrialisation, expand access to quality education, affordable healthcare and productivity of Nigerians, build a system to fight corruption, improve governance and create social cohesion as well as improve security for all.
