President Buhari has ordered for the immediate disengagement of recalled former Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Abdulrasheed Maina and has sought for a detailed investigation into the process of his recall and how it came about.
A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina said Buhari sent a memo to the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, ordering for the instant dismissal of Mr. Maina and demanded a “full report of the circumstances of Maina’s recall and posting to the Ministry of Interior.”
The memo also directed the report of Maina’s recall to be submitted to the office of the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari before the end of work today, Monday, 23rd October 2017.
Maina’s recall has been greeted with hug even criticisms as there is a pending suit against him by the EFCC. Marina also fled Nigeria to the United Arab Emirates before his controversial recall into the Ministry of Interior.
Amid the controversial recall, Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau was reported to have denied having any knowledge of the process of Maina’s recall as he pointed accusing fingers at the Head of Service of the Federation and the Federal Civil Service Commission for their lack of professionalism.
Maina, charged with a financial mismanagement of over N2b has been declared wanted by the EFCC for his mishandling of funds meant to pay pensioners while he was the Pension Reforms’ Task Force Chairman during the tenure of President Goodluck Jonathan.
Maina’s recall sparked criticism across the country and against the President Buhari administration which prides itself with anti corruption war.
