Bauchi state government has ordered the emir of Misau, Alhaji Ahmed Suleiman to tender a written apology over what it calls “his dereliction of duty” which fuelled and escalated the recent fatal clash between farmers and herders in his domain.
The order was contained in a white paper released by the State government which houses various recommendations on how to permanently put a halt to the farmers’ herder’s crisis in Bauchi.
A press statement sent to journalists by the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Bala Mohammed on media, Comrade Mukhtar Gidado late Friday evening in Bauchi said; “Government has accepted the recommendation of the Committee to warn the Emir of Misau, Alhaji Ahmed Suleiman, mni, for dereliction of duty which fuelled and escalated the fatal crisis in his domain.”
“The Emir is to equally apologize to the Government in writing”, the release added.
The press statement added that “on the 25 September 2020, Bauchi state Government received the report of the Administrative Committee of Inquiry on land dispute between Farmers and Herders in Zadawa Ward of Hardawa District, Misau Local Government Area.”
The statement says based on the recommendation of the committee, the District Head of Chiroma, Alhaji Ahmadun Amadu remains suspended pending another investigation.
Adding that, if found wanting, he will be removed and prosecuted.
The white paper also directed the Misau Emirate Council to ensure that Ibrahim Yusuf Atiku is immediately relieved of his appointment from the post of Wakili of Zadawa Village Head.
It directed the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in the state to liaise with the Commissioner of Police, Bauchi state command to arrest and prosecute Atiku for fraudulent allocation of forest and extortion of money from the allottees.
“The Emirate Council is to equally ensure that Atiku is barred from aspiring to the office of Sarkin Zadawa in the event the position becomes vacant”, the white paper maintained.
The paper also directed that the Director of Admin and General Services Malam Sule Abba, the Director of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Malam Baba Waziri, and Director of Works Aminu Abdullahi Disina, all of Misau Local Government Council are retired from the Civil Service.
The Bauchi state government has equally accepted the recommendation of the committee to further investigate 16 identified persons who were alleged to have vigorously participated in masterminding and fuelling the crisis.
The Secretary to the State Government is directed to ensure that the Police and Local Government Service Commission are involved in the investigation.
The emir of Misau has been on suspension since the month of July when the crisis broke out between farmers and herders over a land dispute in Zadawa Ward of the Hardawa District of Misau local government area.
