Tukur Arabi bags award of excellence in public service, by Ahmad Umar

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Abuja Enterprise Agency, Mr Muhammad Tukur Arabi will on the 27th November 2020 be awarded the prestigious Nation Builders Award of Excellence in Public Service.

The award was initiated and formulated by Project 60@60 in collaboration with the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Our Nigeria News Magazine The Chairman of the Project, Abubakar Muhammed Sani PhD who stated this while speaking Newsmen in Gombe on Wednesday said that Tukur Arabi was nominated and vetted for the award because he rightly deserves it.

“This remarkable man has a clear idea of what he wants to achieve, and the courage, passion and commitment to stick to his plan. I have noticed that Arabi has that necessary passion to help the Buhari administration to fix the MSME with the requisite support”.

He also has the ability to stay calm under pressure which him to be capable of inspiring his team. “The reality is that Nigeria can no longer afford the political procrastination and institutional corruption that is often Nigeria’s governments’ default mode. This is not a simple task but Mr Arabi and his team in the Abuja Enterprise are working round the clock to see that things begin to work as they should.”

The Project 60@60 Communication Manager, Halima Nuruddeen said Mr. Arabi’s decisiveness and command over those around him is helping him not to procrastinate and leave critical political judgements to his staff. According to her, Arabi is a role model for young Nigerians.

“We are proud to be associated with him because it’s not an easy feat for anybody to manage an Agency in Nigeria.” Muhammad Tukur Arabi was born on 15th May 1961 in Yola, Adamawa State; he is an astute and consummate Development Strategist and Technocrat who holds a Bachelors Degree in Arts (Education) from University of Maiduguri (1987).

He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Policy Analysis and Administration (PGDPPA, 2008) from Bayero University, Kano and Master’s Degree in Development Studies (M, DS, 2010), from the same institution.

Currently, he is a PhD student (in progress), in Development Studies at ESCAE – Benin University of Commerce and Business Administration. Before his current position, he served as the Deputy Director, Establishment, FCT Administration.

He also served as the General Manager of the World Bank-supported FCT Community & Social Development Agency (CSDP) saddled with the responsibility of increasing access of people (in rural communities) to basic infrastructure and associated community development projects.

As a public servant, he also served in different capacities as Assistant Registrar, Federal College of Education Yola, 1991; Controller Administration, National Television Authority (NTA) 1995 -1998; Human & Material Resources Manager, Aso Radio & TV Services Plc. 1998 – 2006; Managing Director, Aso Radio & TV Services 2006 – 2010; and General Manager, Aso Television Services.

He is the current Managing Director/CEO of Abuja Enterprise Agency since 2015. Arabi Muhammad Tukur is a Fellow of the International Professional Managers Association (IPMA), UK, Institute of Strategic Entrepreneurs (ISEN), Institute of Government Research & Leadership Development (IGR&LD), and Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM).

He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Management of Nigeria (CIPMN), and Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM).

He served as Secretary/Member, Ministerial Committee on Review of the Abuja Master Plan in1998 and as Public Relations Officer, Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) in 1999; Secretary, Task Force on Implementation of Kubwa Master Plan 2014; Company Secretary, ASORTV Services Plc. 1998 – 2006; Member/Secretary, Board of Directors, Aso Radio & Television Services 2008 – 2010; Member/Secretary, Board of Directors, FCT Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA).

He is currently the Secretary, Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria as well as the Chairman, University of Maiduguri Alumni Association (Abuja Chapter).

He has undertaken several research works, motivational speeches and written publications such as ‘Joint Development Authorities; A Tool for African Integration’ A case study of  Nigeria – São – Tome and Principe Joint Development Authority 2004; Nigeria’s ‘Poverty Alleviation Programmes as a Tool for the Development of Rural Areas’, A Case Study of the Federal Capital Territory, 2009; ‘Trauma and Psychosocial Support’ A case for the Northern Region of Nigeria ravaged by Terrorism 2014.

A World Bank Paper presented at the World Bank Headquarters, Washington DC, the USA among others.
