On Monday Night, Fire razed parts of Potiskum Main market Gate 1, near layin Moscow where traders of Guinea-corn, Pepper, Palm Oil and Traders sold their goods and services.
The fire was put out with the assistance of traders who were yet to leave the market, fire service personnel and some good Samaritans within the area who witnessed the incident.
Mallam Nasiru Mato, Vice Chairman of the Market Association lamented that the fire was caused by a spark at an electricity pole.
“More than 16 shops were burned down to ashes and nothing was regained from the shops, and they are yet to announce the amount of money they lost” said the Vice Chairman.
The Chairman of the Association Alhaji Isa Sakatare, Vice Chairman Mallam Nasiru Mato, Auditor General Alhaji Babangida Manya and other security agencies were seen going round the market to assess the level of damage and urged victims to stay calm.
