The just halted industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) coupled with the novel covid-19 plague had created a snag towards our academic chase, making the whole 2020 a year of academic vacation that epitomizes the rest of an ass carrying massively heavy loads.
In no uncertain terms, the recalcitrant refusal of our government to mend its fences with ASUU in quelling the tragically appalling strike even with the recent abatement of the severity of dispersion of the corona pestilence has inferred its incompetence in maintaining a proper standard of our academic scheme.
The sequence of meetings held were only episodes of futile outcomes substantiated, which were neither in the grace of the owing ASUU nor the idly hopeless and hapless students.
It is now blatantly obvious to us all that 2020 is already in her delivery month, and hopefully, in a few days time we shall jubilate the parturition of the baby “2021”.
Fortunately what is the degree of ecstasy and preparedness of Nigerian students since the glitches that enmeshed their academic progress are now successfully on the mend?
Lamentably, it has never been fun thinking about things one has no absolute control over, as knotty it is to express the anguish of Nigeria’s students with regards to simmering hostile hindrance set forth towards the course of their academic struggle by the brave people in whom their trusts lie heavily in the name of leaders.
It is noteworthy that happiness and blessings, along with tribulations and misfortunes, are all means by which humanity is tested for his belief in the divine Providence and his firmness in that belief.
However, it is, therefore, needful to frame our season for our harvest in order to brighten up tomorrow and make it better than yesterday as we are about to ride on another cycle of another 365 days.
As we are just recuperating from the sickness of 9 months old strike, we pray by 2021 to be set free from another bondage of staying to sanitize our hands at home. In deadly earnest, we entreat our government to ensure the full resumption of progressively non-stagnating academic events in all our institution’s ad infinitum. With our cooperation, we hope our government will put in the desired effort to curb the current security challenges.
May tomorrow be better than yesterday and today. Amen
