The commissioner of information, Yobe state, Abdullahi Bego has said that the state witnessed a great deal of development under the Buni led administration in the year 2020 despite the challenge posed by the Coronavirus pandemic and global economic recession.
In an end of year scorecard made available to reporters, the commissioner said Yobe State has made some major progress but was held back by equally major challenges, however, Yobe State Government under Governor Mai Mala Buni implemented its socio-economic agenda for the people robustly well.
Some of the achievements recorded in key sectors include the resuscitation of Yobe investment company, reviving and upgrade of the state microfinance Bank, the administration also created over 50,000 Jobs through new companies and factories.
In agriculture, an executive committee on anchors borrowers and agricultural development was set up to scale up food production in the state, Fertilizers and Tractor were given at subsidized rate to farmers and establishing a partnership with NEXIM bank for Sesame Seed Export.
The year also witnessed numerous construction and inauguration of roads across the state; Township Roads and concrete drainages across Buniyadi, Damagum, Jajimaji, and Babbangida were inaugurated, New roads from Nguru to Balanguwa were constructed, completion of construction of 4.5km dual carriage from Abattoir to new bypass Potiskum
road and many others.
The governor also declared a state of emergency in the educational sector with the construction of more schools and classrooms and renovation of existing ones In 17 LGAs, including fencing of five model primary schools in five LGAs, Seven model schools completed in Damaturu, Gaidam, Gashu’a, Nguru, Potiskum (2no) and Buni-Yadi and 7 Mega Schools currently ongoing.
These giant strides have contributed immensely to the development and welfare hence putting confidence in citizens that the state is destined for greatness.
