PCNI to train 130 Primary School Teachers From Yobe South

The Presidential Committee on North East the Initiative (PCNI) in collaboration with Yobe State University, Damaturu, is conducting a 5 day capacity building workshop for primary school teachers in Yobe South hosted in Potiskum.
Declaring the workshop open at the Federal College of Education (Technical), Potiskum conference hall, Dr Garba Abari, the Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), who is a member of the PCNI, said the workshop module is to address trauma counseling and psychosocial support, security and safety as well as teaching techniques among others.
He said “This is the aspiration of President Buhari’s plan which is the national strategic framework for the coordination of all interventions to the North East and its revitalization”.
In her remark, Fatima Ciroma, Head of Education at PCNI, said the workshop is part of the concluding training for teachers in the North East because it commenced two weeks ago in Yola, Mubi and Maiduguri “so we are concluding it this week in 3 centers in Yobe”.
Fatima Ciroma added that the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has carefully selected 130 teachers from Yobe South for the workshop.
She urged the participants to take the program as very important and use the knowledge they gain to impact positively on their students.
400 teachers are to participate across the whole of Yobe state.
