Gunmen at Ahor village slope section of the Benin bypass have abducted a father and son on their way back from Oluku bypass, heading towards Benin-Auchi Roadside.
According to reports, the gunmen shot randomly on sighting their victims in order to stop their car. They took the man, Mr Godwin Osakwe, and his 17-year-old son to a nearby bush, abandoning the victim’s car.
The gunmen later called through Godwin’s phone and demanded a ransom of N6 million from his wife.
The car was, however, recovered by the district police division but Mrs Augustina Osakwe is yet to pay the ransom demanded by the kidnappers and is pleading for more time not to hurt her loved once.
She said: “l have gone round everywhere looking for money to drop as ransom, but it is very difficult. I have been begging the kidnappers not to hurt my husband and son.
“I am still trying to raise the money for them,” she said.
This is coming after the state’s Commissioner of Police, Mr Philip Ogbadu on Tuesday made mention that kidnappers will no longer keep victims with them longer than four hours before they are rescued by the policemen, during his visit to the secretariat of the Edo NUJ.
