Tijjani, retired Customs Comptroller, loses father, seventh-day prayer today

Retired customs comptroller, Ahmadu Tijjani Maina’s father, Alhaji Suleiman Maina, the Sarkin Noma of Fika’s 7 days fidda’u was held today in their family house in Potiskum, Yobe state.

Alhaji Suleiman Maina, who was born in 1934, died on the 23 of March 2021, at the age of 87.

He had at various times worked with the Fika Native Authority, United Trade Company (UTC) and was a diplomat with the ministry of external affairs. He was also at one time Borno State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs.

He is survived by 13 children and 49 grandchildren. Among his children are Ahmadu T.S. Maina, who retired as a comptroller of customs; Architect Umar Maina, a director with FCDA in Abuja and Fati Maina, a Director with NIPOST.

Others are Altine Maina, a staff with the Yobe State Governor’s office and Architect Abdullahi Maina (Calculus), CEO of Main Structures Nigeria Limited, Potiskum.
