Suspected Eastern Security Network (ESN) gunmen on Saturday set ablaze Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma’s house on fire, killing two security guards in Omuma, his hometown, in Oru East Local Government Area of the state.
Declan Emelumba, the state Commissioner for information and strategy confirmed the incident, stating that two security guards guarding the house were killed during the attack as the gunmen managed to access the building after an exchange of heavy gunfire with security forces.
“It is true but it is not still clear. It is not true that several security men lost their lives. About two security men on duty at the governor’s house were killed. An NSCDC personnel was among the security men who lost their lives during the attack,” he said.
In a video that emerged online, the gunmen also set the car park in the compound on fire, burning several vehicles, as well as a Coaster bus in the premises, while people around the vicinity were running around to quell it.
Meanwhile, Governor Uzodinma paid a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari, at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, not less than 24 hours ago, while also speaking on violence and insecurity in the state as part of the handiwork of opposition political parties.
