Yobe State Government has pledged to construct an access road leading to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) secretariat in Damaturu.
The Commissioner Yobe State Ministry of Works, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Sulayman Bakura made this announcement during the ministerial press briefing today as part of the democracy day celebrations.
He said, “Immediately after the ministerial press briefing, we will direct our engineers to come and measure the area to commence the work”.
Speaking on the immense expansion by the Buni led administration, He revealed that within the period under review, the Governor has constructed over 69.9 township roads and drainages across some local government areas of the state, Tarmuwa, Fune, Gujba, Jajimaji while in the second phase it has embarked on the construction in Potiskum, Nguru, Gashua and Geidam respectively.
The permanent secretary also used the forum to inform residents of Zanna Zakariyya housing estate, Damaturu of roads constructions and drainages coming to the estate in the next two months assuring that work will commence as soon as possible.
In his vote of thanks, Rajab Mohammed Chairman NUJ Yobe Council thanked the State Ministry of Works for the pledge to construct an access road leading to the NUJ Secretariat.
He said, “During the rainy season, we find it difficult to move into the Secretariat due to the erosion encroaching the area. We are indeed grateful for the pledge and this will go a long way in easing our movements”.
