Army chief commiserates with troops involved in traffic accident in Maiduguri (Video)

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, has commiserated with troops involved in a road traffic accident at Garin Kuturu, along Maiduguri- Damaturu Road on Thursday, while they were responding to a distress call.

The Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, in a press statement made available to newsmen in Damaturu, said the Chief of Army Staff lauded the troops for their swift response to an emergency, however, he urged them to be more careful during such distress operational responses.

On Thursday, the troops were called to provide backup to an attack along Maiduguri- Damaturu road, sadly, one of the gun trucks conveying the troops skidded off the road and rammed into a road shoulder, causing the vehicle to somersault.

Nine personnel on board sustained varying degrees of injury in the accident, and have been transferred to a military medical facility, where they are currently receiving treatment.
