The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, says it has begun enumeration of 105, 693 pupils in Yobe under the National Home Grown School Feeding Programme,(NHGSFG).
Mr Maidugu Hassan, the Team-Lead of the programme, made the disclosure in Damaturu on Monday while supervising the exercise at Bundigari and Dikumari primary schools.
He said 54 enumerators were engaged for the exercise aimed at developing a database in preparation to expand the programme as directed by the Federal Government.
Hassan said 772 cooks were also hired to feed the pupils in 248 schools across the state.
In his remarks, Alhaji Ali Audu, Director, National Orientation Agency in Yobe, said the agency had massively conducted sensitization of parents and guardians on the importance of the programme.
Represented by Alhaji Garba Ali, Chief Administration Officer, Audu said the agency had visited the schools severally, gave enumeration forms to the pupils and guided them in filling the forms.
Abba Mohammed, class three pupil at Bundigari Primary School, thanked the Federal Government for the scheme which, he said, had encouraged him to be attending classes regularly.
