One of Nigeria’s finest highlife musician and multi-instrumentalist, Sir Victor Uwaifo has reportedly died.
The legendary singer, and Professor died at the age of 80 on Saturday, August 28, according to The Nation newspaper quoting a family source.
The singer recently celebrated his 80th birthday in March with friends and family all around him, celebrating his new age.

The ‘Guitar boy’ as he was fondly called is the first professional musician to be awarded with the National Merit Honors of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) in 1983.
Uwaifo was also the first Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Tourism in Nigeria.
Until his death, he has 12 golden records to his name.
