War On Bandits: Sheikh Gumi calls Femi Adesina ‘bootlicker’

Story from Saleh INUWA, Kano

Controversial Islamic Cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has described Senior Special Adviser to the President, Femi Adesina as a boot licker for justifying the massive raids being carried out on bandits in Zamfara State. It is unfortunate, according to him, that Mr Adesina earlier labelled Gumi as a lover of bandits.

According to Gumi, his mission to get the bandits on a round table did not fail but was sabotaged or discouraged by the same influential people that are benefiting from the crisis, according to a statement by Gumi on his Facebook page.

“You boot licker that called me a bandit lover, am not one but I love my country the more, I love my religion, my people and humanity that is why am after constructive dialogue”.

I am a qualified medical doctor who knows what it takes to precisely excise a brain tumour without destroying the delicate part surrounding brain tissues. I was commissioned as a military officer and I know very well what the military is all about. I am an intellectual with a PHD from abroad and I am also an Islamic (sic) that hates taking human lives.

Only a fool will allow his country to be turned into a theatre of war, simply because you want to eliminate bandits. One can probably end the ongoing banditry without necessarily opening a full-scale war.

Part of solution to this problem, is good intelligence, good proficient policy engagement of the local herdsman in area of rehabilitation, recognition and reparation of all victims of banditry.

It could be recalled that senior special assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina had carpeted Dr Gumi and called on him to go and join the Shawarma taking place in Zamfara Forest.
