Northeast has the capacity to produce President In 2023 – Gimba

Malam Hassan Gimba, Chairman, Northeast Publishers Forum, has stated that Northeastern Nigeria has the capacity to produce the next President of Nigeria come 2023 that will pave way for more development.
Malam Gimba, who is the publisher of Neptune Prime online newspaper, and was the Guest Speaker at the 2021 Northeast Star Magazine awards stated this in Yola on Thursday.
The theme of this year’s awards is “Celebrating Excellence, Promoting Peace and Harmony”.
Gimba said that the region should henceforth mobilise and sensitise people on the fact that it is now its turn to produce the next president.
According to him, if the region produced the next president, a lot of development would be recorded.
“From now till 2023, we must mobilise the Northeast and let the people know that the presidency should come from here. Not for any personal gain but because taking Nigeria out of the woods has once more fallen on its shoulders.
“Another strong argument is that we have capable hands that can take this nation forward.
“We have them: Those who will be fair to all and have the nation at heart; those who will give everyone their right; those who can turn around the fortunes of this nation and make it the great nation that it was meant to be.
“But we should not mouth such agenda as slogans. We have to be deliberate in working for it and working towards it.
“We have to start by empowering ourselves. Those with the opportunity to empower people should do so; those empowered owe it as a duty to build up others”, he said.
Gimba further said that the Northeast is the richest zone in the country.
According to him, exploration of the Mambila Plateau will reveal one of the most natural resources endowed areas of the world.
He added that, apart from that, there are many other natural resources in the zone that can turn any nation into an economic superpower if harnessed.
In his remarks, Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa said the zone has the capacity to lead the country having been so blessed with human and natural resources.
Fintiri, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr Maxwell Gidado (SAN), said “If we give one person the chance to lead this country from the Northeast, the issues of Boko Haram insurgency will be taken care of completely within the first tenure”, he said.
He commended Ambassador Tukur Buratai for his contribution of making relative peace possible in the zone and the country at large.
In his remarks, Buratai thanked and appreciated the Northeast Star Magazine for the awards. He said that the Magazine had contributed a lot in the fight against insurgency in the zone which has been the worst plagued by the malady. Buratai commended the courage displayed in their reportage.
Our correspondent reports that some of the awardees include Ambassador Tukur Buratai, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri and Dr Mohammed Dikwa. Others are the Emir of Funakaye III, Alhaji Mu’azu Muhammad and Hajiya Laylah Ali Othman, a media influencer and businesswoman, among others.
