NIWA trains port managers, stresses on need to realise gov’t policies, programmes (Video)

Area Managers of Ports in the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), have been told to work towards realizing the government’s objectives in the sector.
The Managing Director, NIWA Chief Gorge Moughalu gave the advice while flagging off training for area port managers organised by Confluence Logistics and Transport Consults limited in Lokoja.

Chief Moughalu who described the training as timely said it would help develop staff capacity and build synergy among sister agencies for better service delivery.
The MD commended the initiative of the Chief Executive of Confluence Logistics saying that her efforts would help achieve human capital development in the agency.
The Retired General Manager Marine and Operations Nigerian port Authority, a one time Port Manager of the Lagos Port Complex Apapa and the Chief Executive Officer Confluence Logistics and Consults, Hajia Aisha Ali Ibrahim said the aim of the training was to give them a better understanding of their roles and the needed synergy between NIWA and other government agencies.
Hajia Aisha noted that they need to be well trained to understand their duties and develop their capacity. The inland waterways are vital in seaport efficiency.
She described the training as timely and would add value to their job more so with the recent development in Nigeria’s Ports across the country.
She added that Chief George Moughalu is a man of integrity noting that her agency is out to train and educate NIWA staff for better service delivery that would help generate revenue.
The General Manager of Port Services, Engineer Agbahi Fidelis, said he believed that after the training, staff would be adequately positioned to confront any challenges in Port management administration and would be able to manage any port across the country.
