Gov. Buni charges Tijjaniyya religious group on prayers for Nigeria’s peace

Yobe State Governor and Chairman APC Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Honourable Mai Mala Buni, has tasked organisers and sponsors of the Maulud prayer sessions in the state, to pray for peace and prosperity of the state and country.

The Governor, in a press statement signed by Mamman Mohammed, Director-General Press Affairs and Media, described the choice of the state for the Maulud programme to honour the late Tijjaniyya scholar, Shiek Khalifa Njibrima, as an honour done to his students and followers.

While congratulating the organisers and sponsors, the Governor enjoined members of the group to conduct the Maulud prayers peacefully.

He also urged them to pray for the full return of peace to the state, North East and Nigeria.

“As faithful with a strong belief in the efficacy of prayers, we should continue to pray for our state and country.

“We look forward to a peaceful and successful event that would promote peaceful coexistence and brotherhood” Gov. Buni advised.

The state government also wishes to correct the false, unfounded and erroneous impression posted on Social Media that the event is being organised by the government.

The organisation of such events remain the sole responsibility of groups and bodies involved, without government involvement.
