Hisbah reconciled over 4,000 matrimonial cases in Jigawa 2021 – Commandant

Story from Dahiru SULEIMAN, Dutse

As part of its effort in settling matrimonial disputes amicably in the society, the Jigawa State Hisbah Commission has intervened, and reconciled about 4,231 family cases, among other disputes in 2021.

The state Hisbah Commandant, Malam Ibrahim Dahiru, stated this while presenting the review of 2021 activities conducted by the commission to newsmen in Dutse.

He explained that during the period, under review, the commission had reconciled 3,579 domestic cases involving couples, while 221 cases involving parents and their children.

The Commandant also revealed that the commission had managed and settled 71 cases that involve farmers and herders which consequently helped in averting bloody clashes in the affected areas.

“Other cases we handled in the year included 41 disagreement/debt between traders and 319 neighbours’ disputes.”

The commander maintained that reconciliation helps in conflict resolution and peacebuilding among people. However, it saves time and resources by avoiding unnecessary litigation in courts.

Malam Ibrahim then assured the general public that the commission is always ready to entertain any complain and break peace among the worrying parties to ensure equity and justice amongst all.

He also declared that the commission is there for every member of the society including men, women, children, Muslims, Christians and pagans, “Our cardinal objectives were to foster peace through social justice and discourage social vices/ criminal activities to ensure a free crime society,” he declared.
