ABU seeks partnership with NYSC on entrepreneurship

The Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria in Kaduna State has urged the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to key into its entrepreneurship programme to enhance the scheme’s Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme.

Prof. Kabiru Bala, the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the university made the call when the Kaduna State Coordinator of the NYSC in Zaria, Mr Odoba Oche, visited him on Tuesday in Zaria.

Bala who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, Prof. Ahmed-Doko Ibrahim, said the collaboration would enhance vital job creation skills and strengthen the competence required for job creation among the corps members among others.

The VC also assured the NYSC of the University’s readiness to continue to work in synergy to enhance national development.

Earlier, the NYSC coordinator described ABU as a good team player in the cardinal programmes of the NYSC since the inception of the scheme in 1973.

Mr Oche explained that ABU had always contributed to the success of the national youth service programme in Kaduna.

He described the ABU as a great institution which had continued to live above board in its core mandate of teaching, research and community service.
