Adamawa CJ counts achievements, says he appointed 39 magistrates, 180 registrars in 9 years

Story from Usman IBRAHIM, Yola

The Chief Judge of Adamawa State, Justice Nathan Musa, has appointed 39 magistrates and 180 registrars to various courts of the state.

Justice Musa disclosed this at a valedictory session marking his retirement on Saturday in Yola, the Adamawa State capital.

He said the appointments were part of his achievements during his time as an acting Chief Judge and Chief Judge between 2013 and 2022.

Musa said during the period he successfully brought on board four High Court judges, two Customary Court of Appeal judges, and two Kadis.

Others include repealing and replacing the old High Court Civil Procedure Rules of 1977 with Civil Procedure Rules of 2018, the establishment of 12 additional Area and Upper Area Courts, High Court Mubi I, as well as the purchase of officials’ vehicles.

According to him, all these were done from monthly running costs as there was no special allocation made to the judiciary.

Musa thanked Governor Fintiri for the appointment and support in the discharge of his duties that lead to all the reforms taking place in the judiciary.

He also appreciated the support and cooperation from his management staff and all stakeholders.

Responding, Governor Fintiri lauded the outgoing Chief Judge for reforming the justice sector and ensuring justice for people in the state.

He described Justice Musa as the greatest Chief Judge who always respects other people’s views.

“As the Chief Judge, he has initiated far-reaching reform with impressive impact on the state judiciary and contributed positively in the state which needed to be appreciated,” he said.
