Adeboye urges FG to eliminate terrorists, sponsors ahead of possible US action

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has called on the Federal Government to swiftly eliminate terrorists and their sponsors ahead of any potential military intervention by the United States in Nigeria.
Speaking on Friday during the November Holy Ghost Service, Adeboye reacted to recent statements by US President Donald Trump, urging President Bola Tinubu to give the newly appointed service chiefs a three-month ultimatum to neutralize terrorists and their financiers. He stressed that failure to achieve this should result in their resignation.
“This is not the time for apportioning blame. Our President inherited this problem; it started before him,” Adeboye said. Recalling a private counsel he gave to the late President Muhammadu Buhari during a period of severe insecurity, he noted that decisive action was advised but not fully implemented.

The cleric emphasized that current directives to the service chiefs must include eliminating both terrorists and their influential sponsors. “When giving orders to the service chiefs this time, it should be clear that they are to target the terrorists and their backers, no matter how influential,” he said.
Adeboye also warned that, in the event of a US military intervention, global powers such as China and Russia would not come to Nigeria’s defence. “All the so-called world leaders will condemn America in words, but no foreign power will intervene,” he said.
He further advised Tinubu to seek a diplomatic window of 100 days from Trump to tackle insurgency. During this period, the president should direct service chiefs and security agencies to resolve the security challenges within 90 days.

The warning follows comments by Trump on his Truth Social platform, describing Christianity in Nigeria as facing an “existential threat” from radical Islamist groups. Trump pledged that the US “cannot stand by while such atrocities are happening” and expressed readiness to protect the Christian population globally, calling for congressional oversight on the situation.
