Afrobeat sensation Wizkid loses mother

Mrs. Jane Dolapo Balogun, the mother of Nigerian singer and Afrobeat sensation Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has passed away.

The sad news was confirmed by Wizkid’s long-time manager, Sunday Are. He confirmed that Mrs. Balogun passed away in the early hours of Friday.

“Yes, she passed away this morning, around 1:30 am,” Sunday Are confirmed.

The late Mrs. Balogun was also a mother to two other children, Yetunde Balogun and Lade Balogun.

This loss is deeply felt by Wizkid, not only because of the strong mother-son bond they shared but also due to the unwavering support she provided him throughout his career journey.

Her presence at Wizkid’s performances was well known and documented. It wasn’t just the role of a mother; it represented a steadfast show of support and unwavering allegiance to her son’s career.
