Ag. CGC, Adewale Adeniyi assesses Ikorodu government warehouse, meets NPA reps

Story from Haruna YUSUF

In a recent visit to Zone ‘A’, the Acting Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, paid a visit to the Ikorodu Government Warehouse in Lagos. The officer in charge of the warehouse, Deputy Comptroller Willy Ukpabio, greeted the CGC along with representatives from the Nigerian Port Authority and other Terminal Operators.

During his visit, the Acting CGC listened to various concerns raised by the warehouse operators. These included issues like waterlogged areas affecting service provision and the allocation of part of the warehouse to private bonded terminals. The Ag. CG assured the operators that positive measures would be taken to address these problems.

In another part of his visit, the Acting CGC also met with the Operatives of the Lagos Industrial Command, led by Comptroller Queen Ogbudu, as well as excise stakeholders. Here, he commended the Command for their efforts in revenue generation and engaged in a productive session where stakeholders had the opportunity to ask questions about the new excise duties.

“I want to take a moment to acknowledge and appreciate your hard work. I am proud of the progress we’ve made in revenue generation. I encourage you to continue being passionate about your job and inspire others to deliver excellent service,” Adewale expressed.

He further assured the stakeholders of a commitment to transparency and openness. If necessary, he mentioned the possibility of creating a platform for better communication and service delivery. Adewale emphasized the importance of understanding the legal framework and fulfilling responsibilities.

The Acting CGC began his Maiden Visit to Zone ‘A’ on June 16th, 2023, and is expected to tour selected Commands in the Zone during the first leg of his outing.
