Aminu Dantata donates over N50 million to DOGA

Kano businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, has donated the sum of N50 million to Dala Old Girls Alumni Association during the Annual General Meeting that took place in Nasarawa Local Government area of Kano State yesterday.

The donation which is spread in five years between 2019 and 2023 is to support the association in promoting the affairs of the school through improved quality of the girl-child education.

He challenged the Alumni to emulate the virtues of past heroes and leaders like late Sardaunan Sokoto, Alhaji Sir Ahmadu Bello KBE, who incidentally performed the foundation laying ceremony.

Dantata further assured the Alumni of his willingness to support girl child education and make provisions for the construction of additional ten blocks of toilets and five boreholes to improve hygiene and sanitation of the school with immediate effect.

In his remarks, the State Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Mohammed Sanusi Kiru used the occasion to highlight on government readiness to confront the myriad of challenges ahead of their proposed plan for free and compulsory education when he said almost one million sets of books has been purchased for secondary schools in Kano state to support students.

He equally noted that grants of N300,000 shall be given to secondary schools in all the senatorial zones in the state to enhance the welfare of teachers in the state. 

The President of DOGA, Honourable Saudatu Sani, former member House of Representatives, was full of emotion when she challenged her other collegiate never to compromise on the virtues they inherited from people like Aminu Dantata and other great people of the region by being advocates of good conduct and self-motivation so that they can leave behind good legacies, admitting that the presence of Aminu Dantata and his wives clearly testifies to the Goodwill they all enjoyed while in school and his continuous support to them till this day. 

Other prominent Alumni that graced the occasion include Hajiya Maryam Sani Abacha represented by the daughter supported the Alumni with the sum of N500,000 and also Chairman BON, Sa’a Ibrahim whose recent rise to the position is an assurance that DOGA is indeed a school with high reputation.
