A recent attack by suspected bandits on Kukar Babangida village in the Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State has resulted in the tragic death of ten individuals, including the Village Head, Zauren Katsina, and his four children.

The attack occurred in the early hours of Thursday at 1:30 am, catching residents unaware as they slept.

Residents reported that Kukar Babangida, with a population of about 6,000, mainly comprising farmers and herders, has been consistently vulnerable to bandit activities.

This incident marks the third attack within the week in the Jibia Local Government Council.

“Even within the week, two bandit attacks were recorded in the Jibia Local Government Council. One of the attacks was launched along the Jibia-Batsari axis, and the other attack was carried out in the heart of Jibia town itself, resulting in loss of lives,” shared a resident.

The Katsina State Police Command has not yet responded to the incident, with calls to the Command’s Spokesman, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, going unanswered at the time of filing this report.

The situation remains tense as the community grapples with the aftermath of this latest bandit attack.
