Bandits attack mosque in Zamfara, abduct several worshippers
Bandits have launched an attacked in a mosque in Birnin Yaro village, Zamfara state, during Isha prayers on Friday night, abducting several worshippers.
Reports from Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focusing on the Lake Chad region, indicate that the assault was orchestrated by the infamous Bello Turji and his armed group.
The bandits forcefully took their victims into the nearby forest, though the precise number of those kidnapped remains unclear.

Sources suggest that Turji may intend to use the abducted individuals as human shields against potential military action from Nigerian troops involved in Operation FANSAN YANMMA.
The recent surge in kidnappings for ransom in northern Nigeria is alarming. Just last week, a raid in Gana town resulted in the kidnapping of at least 46 individuals, including women and children.
Eyewitnesses reported that armed assailants on motorbikes attacked the town, firing indiscriminately while setting several homes and businesses ablaze.
In a similar incident in December, gunmen abducted at least 43 people in Kakidawa, Gidan Goga district, within the Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara state.
Eyewitness accounts describe the chaotic scene as the gunmen fired shots, prompting residents to flee into surrounding bushes.
The attackers then conducted house-to-house searches, capturing women and children who could not escape.
