Bandits in Abuja demand N60 million ransom to release abducted family

In a harrowing turn of events, bandits who abducted Alhaji Mansoor Al-Kadriyar along with his six children in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory have contacted the family, demanding a steep N60 million ransom for their release.

The victims were forcibly taken on Tuesday night, and tragically, Alhaji Abdulfatai, who bravely attempted to foil their abduction, was shot dead by the bandits. Furthermore, two of the three policemen who sustained injuries during the firefight have reportedly succumbed to their wounds.

In a distressing twist, the bandits chose to release the father, instructing him to procure the hefty ransom for the freedom of his captive children. The family, hailing from Okekere area in Ilọrin, Kwara State, now faces an agonizing challenge to secure the funds needed for their loved ones’ release.

Sherifdeen, a relative of the victims, shared the grim details during a telephone conversation, emphasizing the urgent need for financial assistance. He disclosed that the kidnappers have set a deadline of Friday, January 12, 2024, for the family to gather the demanded N60 million, translating to N10 million per child.

In a plea for support, Sherifdeen stated, “To support the efforts in securing their freedom, we humbly seek financial assistance. We have provided bank details on my Facebook page. As we await any communication from the kidnappers, we request your prayers for the safe release of our loved ones and appreciate any (financial) support during this challenging time.”

The family’s appeal for financial assistance underscores the dire circumstances faced by victims of such criminal acts and the urgent need for collective efforts to combat kidnapping and ensure the safety of citizens.
